Chittagong’s Top Terrorist David Emon Arrested

Chittagong District Police have arrested five individuals, including the notorious top terrorist David Emon, from Jhikargachha Upazila in Jashore. They were apprehended during an operation conducted on Wednesday (July 29).

Confirming the matter, Chittagong District Police Super (SP) Masud Alam stated that multiple teams of the district police had been conducting operations for a long time to apprehend David Emon and his associates. Based on intelligence information, they were detained during an operation in Jhikargachha, Jashore.

Police reported that David Emon had been under the surveillance of law enforcement agencies for a long time on charges of extortion, illegal arms use, and various terrorist activities in Chittagong. Following their arrest, the process of taking necessary legal action against them is underway.

Previously, on Sunday night, Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested two associates of David Emon, Md. Asif (25) and Saidul Islam alias Arif (24), during an operation in the Wajedia area of Chittagong city’s Oxygen-Kuwaish Road.

Additional Police Commissioner (Crime & Operations) of CMP, Muhammad Faisal Ahmed, stated that during Asif’s arrest, a foreign pistol and two rounds of ammunition from its magazine were recovered from his waist. In the same operation, another two rounds of ammunition were seized from Arif’s pocket.

Police claimed that during preliminary interrogation, Asif and Arif identified themselves as associates of David Emon. Based on the information provided by them and ongoing intelligence surveillance, David Emon’s location was confirmed, leading to the operation in Jashore.

Police stated that efforts are underway to gather further information through the interrogation of the arrested individuals regarding their terrorist network, sources of illegal weapons, identities of their associates, and their involvement in various crimes committed in Chittagong.
