US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding Signed: Trump

US President Donald Trump has announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the United States and Iran. He stated that the agreement was completed electronically and that the Strait of Hormuz would be fully open by next Friday.

Reports published by various international media outlets on Tuesday indicate that the US-Iran understanding has generated new hope for de-escalating ongoing tensions in the Middle East. The matter was also discussed with significance at the G7 summit, and world leaders have welcomed this progress.

Citing Iranian media, it has been reported that three Iranian oil tankers and two cargo ships have crossed the Strait of Hormuz following the lifting of the US naval blockade. This is believed to signal a return to normalcy in international energy and commercial shipping lanes.

However, despite the understanding, the security situation in the region has not fully normalized. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israeli troops would maintain their positions in Southern Lebanon even after the US-Iran agreement.

Meanwhile, following the peace agreement, displaced people in Southern Lebanon have begun returning to their homes. However, isolated incidents of shelling between Israeli forces and Hezbollah are still reportedly occurring in the area.

According to analysts, this understanding between the United States and Iran could have a significant impact on the political and security situation in the Middle East. However, with tensions persisting in conflict-prone areas, including Southern Lebanon, the path to establishing lasting peace remains challenging.
